Gurugram: In a strong campaign against wrong-side driving, the Gurugram Traffic Police issued 19,146 challans totaling Rs 99.42 lakh in fines during the past month, police officials announced on Saturday.
Under the directives of Commissioner of Police Vikas Arora, traffic authorities took strict action against vehicles found driving on the wrong side, especially at key locations like National Highway-48 near Rajiv Chowk, Gurugram-Faridabad Road, CRPF Chowk towards Sheetla Colony, and Gurugram-Sohna Road.
Traffic officials carried out special checks and campaigns at various spots to catch offenders. As part of these efforts, drivers found violating traffic rules by driving the wrong way were penalized as per the Motor Vehicle Act, explained DCP (Traffic) Rajesh Mohan.
The main goal of Gurugram Police is to ensure smooth, safe, and systematic traffic flow by strict enforcement of traffic regulations. They also periodically run awareness campaigns to educate the public on traffic rules and the penalties for violations.
The police urged all drivers to adhere strictly to traffic laws to prevent accidents, protect lives and property, and maintain organized traffic movement.
