Heavy rain alert in 30 districts of UP: Monsoon to cover entire UP in 48 hours

Varanasi, June 21: In UP, monsoon has covered 60 districts, including Lucknow, within three days. There are only 15 districts where monsoon is yet to become active. Scientists claim that monsoon will cover the remaining districts in the next 24 days.

Heavy rain in Kushambi and Gonda causes waterlogging 

Here, Kaushambi witnessed heavy rain in the morning. Water filled up to the knees outside the DM office. Water was removed using a pumping set in the morning. Gonda witnessed rain for 2 hours late at night. This caused waterlogging on the roads.

Jhansi breaks 10-year temperature record 

Lucknow’s meteorologist Atul Singh said- 10 years old record has been broken in Jhansi. Jhansi was the coldest in the state with 28.7°C on Friday. Earlier, such a temperature was recorded in 2015. Whereas in the history of Jhansi since 1969, this is the 10th time.

Alert issued for heavy rain and lightning 

The weather department has issued an alert of heavy rain in 30 districts today. There is a possibility of lightning in 53 districts. Talking about Friday, it rained in 25 cities including Gorakhpur. The service lane of the ring road in Lucknow sank up to 30 feet. There was so much rain in Amethi that the SP office turned into a pond.

Here, on Thursday evening, roads in Unnao turned into ponds due to rain. Railway tracks caved in. A young man stopped a passenger train by waving a red T-shirt. A major accident was averted due to this. In the last 24 hours, 10 people have died due to lightning in the state. Talking about Thursday, there was heavy rain in 45 districts including Lucknow and Kanpur. Firozabad recorded the highest rainfall of 120 mm.

In 24 hours, 13.6 mm of rain fell in 25 districts. Since June 1, the state has received an average of 44.6 mm of rain, whereas according to the Meteorological Department, 42.3 mm of rain should have fallen by now. So far, UP has received 6 percent more rain than the quota.

Jhansi was the coldest in the state
