Agartala (Tripura): In a major operation against drug trafficking, law enforcement officials raided the Maheshkhola area this morning, seizing 1.06 lakh Yaba tablets, two motorcycles, and four mobile phones. According to reports, the West PS received confidential information around 12 PM from a secret informant about the involvement of a suspect named Mohammad Babul Mia, a resident of Maheshkhola, in illegal activities. Acting on this tip-off, the police formed a team and conducted the raid.

During the operation, two individuals—Shiban Hossain from Bishalgarh and Sanjay Mia from Chandni Mura—were arrested. However, the primary suspect, Mohammad Babul Mia, also from Chandni Mura, remains on the run. The seized drugs have an estimated market value of over five crore taka. Law enforcement continues its investigation and efforts to apprehend the main suspect.

SP West Kiran spoke to media, detailing the operation and saying, “Around 12 PM, we received confidential information from a secret informant about Mohammad Babul Mia’s involvement in illegal activities. We immediately formed a team and carried out the raid, seizing 106,000 Yaba tablets, two motorcycles, and four mobile phones. We arrested Shiban Hossain and Sanjay Mia, but Mohammad Babul Mia remains at large.”

The police emphasized the importance of citizens reporting any suspicious activity to help maintain law and order. In a related effort, on Wednesday, authorities dismantled a significant drug network, arresting eight individuals involved in distributing narcotics across the city.
