Aligarh, May 8: In Aligarh, a police vehicle rammed into a Canter parked on the roadside. One inspector, three constables and a gangster died in the accident. One constable is seriously injured. The police team was taking the gangster from Firozabad to Bulandshahr for a hearing.
The accident took place on Thursday morning on the highway in the Lodha police station area. Videos of the accident have surfaced. In these, it is seen that a policeman is stuck in the gate of the car. He is soaked in blood. He is lying unconscious.
People standing nearby are trying to take him out, but the door is not opening because the car gate is badly crushed. Meanwhile, another policeman is seen writhing in pain on the front seat of the car. He has suffered severe injuries on his head and face.
Initial investigation by the police has revealed that the accident happened due to drowsiness. The deceased have been identified as Inspector Ramsajivan, constable Balveer, Chandrapal, Raghuveer and Muzaffarnagar resident gangster Gulshanwar. Head constable Sherpal Singh is injured and is undergoing treatment at Aligarh Medical College.
How did the accident happen?
CO Sanjeev Tomar said- The Firozabad police van was going through the Chikavati turn. In the morning, a canter (RJ 49 GA 4796) was standing on the highway in the Lodha area. According to the initial investigation, the driver had fallen asleep. Due to this, he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went out of control and hit the canter.
According to the police, the traffic on the highway was normal at the time of the accident. In such a situation, it is suspected that the police van was over speeding. Eyewitnesses and passersby also said that the van collided at high speed. The collision made a sound like an explosion.
The car was badly damaged and the injured were taken out by breaking the door
The collision was so strong that the front part of the police van was badly damaged. The policemen were stuck in the van. Everyone was taken out by breaking the door and glass of the van. After the accident, the police called a crane and got the canter and van removed from the road.
Eyewitnesses said – there was a sound like an explosion due to the collision
A passerby said – The van collided with the canter from behind with such force that a sound like an explosion was heard. I parked my bike on the side of the road. When I went closer, I saw that the police vehicle had entered the parked canter. People were writhing in pain in the van. We tried to take them out, but the van was locked. The front gate was damaged. Due to this, there was a problem in opening the gate. Meanwhile, a crowd of passersby gathered there. The police was informed by phone. When the police arrived, everyone was taken out.
What did the ambulance worker say…
The ambulance worker said – I am an ambulance driver of NHAI. As soon as I got the information, I reached the spot. There a police vehicle was rammed into a canter. The police vehicle was carrying a prisoner. 4 policemen and a prisoner were dead in it. One was injured. I brought everyone to the hospital. From here the injured was referred to the medical college.
Aligarh SP City Mrigank Shekhar Pathak said- the accident happened due to the driver falling asleep, or due to over speed or bad road, the car lost control and collided… Police and forensic team are collecting evidence on these points. Police has sent 5 bodies for postmortem. Their families have been informed. One policeman is injured, who is undergoing treatment in the medical college.
