Varanasi, June 14: The change in weather in UP continues. The spell of rain continues amidst the scorching heat. Today, on Saturday, the weather department has issued a rain alert in 47 districts and a heatwave alert in 19 districts. Earlier, on Friday, there was heavy rain in 13 cities of the state. A young girl named Manisha died due to lightning in Agra.
Here, in view of the scorching heat, holidays in primary schools have been extended by 15 days. Now schools will remain closed till June 30. Banda was the hottest in the state on Friday. The maximum temperature here was recorded at 44 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists say that the weather will change from June 14, i.e. today. There will be thunderstorms, rain and strong winds. During this time, the wind speed can be from 30 to 50 km per hour.
Alert in western UP
Strong winds of up to 50 km/h can blow in many districts of western UP. There is also a possibility of lightning along with rain. Districts in which the alert is on – Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun and their surrounding areas.
Weather will change in eastern UP too
In many districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, winds will blow at a speed of 30 to 40 km/h and rain may occur with thunder. These districts are included in the alert – Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Farrukhabad and surrounding areas.
When will monsoon arrive in UP?
Gyan Prakash Singh, a meteorologist at BHU in Kashi, said – A strong cyclonic system is forming in South India, whose effect will also be seen in North India. Due to this, there is a possibility of good rain between June 20 and June 26. Monsoon has reached the border of Sikkim and West Bengal at the entrance of Bihar.
According to IMD, the conditions for its further progress remain favourable. Therefore, it can knock in Bihar in a day or two. The scheduled time for the monsoon to enter Bihar is 10 to 12 June. By 15 June, it usually reaches Patna and Ranchi and covers about half of Bihar and Jharkhand. Around 20 June, the monsoon enters the eastern border of UP and Uttarakhand. The monsoon will become active in the entire UP between 20 and 26 June.
BHU meteorologist Manoj Srivastava says that from June 16, drizzle and thunderstorm-like activities may start in both western and eastern UP. This is likely to cause a drop in temperature. Especially the effect of western disturbance will be seen in 35 districts of Purvanchal. This can be called pre-monsoon. Monsoon is likely to become active in entire UP between June 20-26.
