Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh): Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad has called for the removal of Madhya Pradesh BJP Cabinet Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah from his position following his controversial comments about Colonel Sofia, which Prasad described as an insult to the armed forces and the nation’s military history.

Addressing the media, Prasad stated, “Colonel Sofia’s comments on the war are highly derogatory and reflect a low mentality. This is not only an insult to her but also to the brave soldiers and the proud history of our country.” He further demanded that such a minister be immediately dismissed, and urged the BJP to expel him from the party, calling his remarks a serious issue.

This controversy arose after Shah made an objectionable remark about Colonel Sofia Qureshi, who briefed the media during Operation Sindoor. Shah had said, “Those who widowed our daughters in Pahalgam, we sent a sister of their own to teach them a lesson.” Later, Shah apologized for his comment, expressing regret and stating, “I am human, not a god, and I apologize ten times.” He added, “I am patriotic, and people from all communities work for the nation. If my words upset anyone, I apologize and request not to interpret my speech differently.” He also asserted that his statement related to the response to the Pahalgam terror attack and the revenge taken in their language, emphasizing that his words should not be misunderstood.

Furthermore, MP Prasad responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent statement that “we will enter their houses and eliminate terrorists,” affirming that the country is united in efforts to eradicate terrorism. He stated, “The nation fully supports such measures, and even opposition leaders like Akhilesh Yadav have publicly backed the government’s stance.” He added, “The country is looking to the Prime Minister for decisive action against terrorism, and the entire nation is hopeful.”

Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai condemned Shah’s remark about Colonel Sofia as an insult to women, the army, and the nation. Rai urged Prime Minister Modi to take action against the Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister for his inappropriate comment.
