Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): The Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is making concerted efforts to enhance farmers’ prosperity. For the first time during the Rabi crop season, the state is directly purchasing maize from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). This procurement began on June 15 and will continue until July 31, with buying hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Under the 2024-25 marketing year, maize will be bought at Rs 2,225 per quintal from registered farmers.

Recently, CM Yogi Adityanath visited Auraiya, where he inquired about local maize cultivation and reassured farmers that the government will continually support their growth and well-being. The maize procurement drive is underway in several districts including Badaun, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Etah, Kasganj, Firozabad, Hathras, Mainpuri, Hardoi, Unnao, Kanpur Nagar, Auraiya, Kannauj, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Bahraich, Ballia, Gonda, Sambhal, Rampur, Ayodhya, and Mirzapur.

Farmers interested in selling maize must register through the official website fcs.up.gov.in or via the UP KISAN MITRA mobile app. Only registered farmers will be eligible for purchase, which ensures they benefit from the MSP. Registration requires using the farmer’s mobile number for OTP verification, linking their bank account to Aadhaar, and ensuring the bank account is active on the NPCI portal.

Payments for maize will be directly transferred to the farmers’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Public Finance Management System (PFMS). For assistance, farmers can contact the toll-free helpline 18001800150 or get help from district-level officials such as the District Food Marketing Officer, Regional Marketing Officer, or the Block Marketing Inspector.

Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also distributed appointment letters to 60,244 newly recruited police constables, emphasizing the importance of rigorous training to strengthen the state’s security system. During the event, he highlighted that intensive training would reduce bloodshed by ensuring police are well-prepared.
