Lucknow: To ensure the safety and security during the upcoming Holi celebrations, the Uttar Pradesh Police has ramped up security measures across the state. This includes activating district intelligence networks and instructing all personnel to remain on high alert.

In its directives for the festival, the police emphasized, “No new traditions should be introduced during the celebrations. All festivals should be celebrated traditionally… Antisocial elements must be identified beforehand, and preventive actions must be taken.” Additionally, the police have reviewed past disputes and incidents related to Holi and are taking appropriate preventive steps.

Senior officers have been tasked with briefing all officials, including those at police stations, outposts, and beat levels, ensuring preparedness at all levels.

The police have also implemented a comprehensive plan to curb the production, sale, and transportation of illegal toxic liquor to prevent accidents. Coordination with excise officials and local magistrates will involve conducting raids and surprise checks. Public awareness campaigns are also underway to warn people about the dangers of adulterated liquor.

District hospitals have been instructed to stock life-saving medicines and equipment, with emergency services, including 108 ambulance services and mobile medical units, being available around the clock.

Municipal authorities are ensuring that adequate water supply, sanitation, and lighting arrangements are in place. Additionally, there will be increased police presence, along with CCTV and drone surveillance, in sensitive areas such as mixed-population zones, procession routes, junctions, and communal hotspots.

Special teams, such as “poster parties” and “morning checking teams,” will be deployed with specific responsibilities. Senior officers will supervise regular foot patrolling in busy markets and commercial areas. Meetings with business organizations will also take place to ensure their safety.

Bomb detection squads and sniffer dog teams will be stationed at crowded places, markets, and key establishments. Firefighting arrangements will also be reviewed to ensure readiness for any emergencies.
