According to authorities, the robbery took place on June 18 within the jurisdiction of Ganga Ghat Police Station, and an FIR was registered. The police received intelligence from informants that the robbers had assembled to distribute stolen jewelry. Acting on this tip, the police team reached the scene, and when they tried to apprehend the suspects, the latter shot at the officers.

The police managed to recover all the stolen goods from the arrested individuals. During the exchange of fire, two suspects, identified as Deepak and Devendra, were injured in the leg and rushed to the hospital. One suspect attempted to flee but was captured by the police. The police also recovered two cartridges and some looted valuables from the suspects’ possession, and further legal proceedings are underway.

In a related incident, on June 17, two individuals were detained in connection with the collapse of six houses in Mathura’s Masani area on June 15, which resulted in three fatalities, including two children. The collapsed structures were reportedly caused by negligent soil excavation work. The victims were identified as Totaram (35) and two children, Kajal and Yashoda. Following the incident, authorities announced a reward of Rs 25,000 for information leading to the arrest of main accused Sunil Gupta and an associate involved in the illegal excavation.
