Overloaded Truck Topples Power Poles in Jalandhar’s Gandhi Camp, Sparks Outrage Among Residents

Jalandhar, Punjab: An overloaded truck struck power poles and wires in Jalandhar’s Gandhi Camp area. The accident severely damaged the power poles, knocking out power to the entire neighborhood. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but residents are furious over the truck driver’s negligence and the administration’s laxity.

According to reports, an overloaded truck entered a narrow alleyway. Due to the truck’s height and the load on it, it entangled overhead power lines. When the driver tried to pull the truck forward, the tension from the wires caused the power poles to fall to the ground.

    protection from loss of life

According to eyewitnesses, the accident was so horrific that the poles collapsed, causing a loud explosion and sparks from the wires. Fortunately, no people or children were present beneath the poles when they fell, otherwise, there could have been significant loss of life. Immediately after the incident, power was cut off throughout Gandhi Camp and surrounding neighborhoods.

The truck driver was unaware of the route.

Residents of the area say this isn’t the first time such heavy vehicles have entered residential areas. Local residents have questioned how such a large, overloaded truck managed to enter the narrow streets despite police checkpoints and restrictions. They allege that the truck driver was unaware of the route, yet he forced his way inside.

The truck owner is ready to compensate for the loss.

Following the accident, women and elderly residents of the neighborhood took to the streets. People present at the scene said the electricity department has been notified, but due to the extensive damage, it may take a long time for power to be restored. Meanwhile, the truck owner has promised to compensate for the damage, but local residents are demanding strict action from the administration.

    Police is investigating the matter

Currently, police and electricity department teams are investigating the scene. Residents say their anger will not subside until the poles are repaired and the truck driver is prosecuted.
