Pathankot Congress Leader Lakhwinder Bajwa and Son Granted Bail

Pathankot: Lakhwinder Singh Bajwa and his son Kamaljit Singh have been granted bail. Police arrested them yesterday following a complaint by Amandeep Singh Sandhu, the district president of the Aam Aadmi Party in Pathankot.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, former minister Raj Kumar Verka arrived in Pathankot and met with Bajwa’s family. During the meeting, Verka launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann‘s government.

Bajwa and Son Arrested After Complaint

Yesterday, a case was registered against a father and son for allegedly threatening to kill the Aam Aadmi Party district president and the District Planning Board chairman in Pathankot. Police took immediate action and arrested both of them.

Sandhu had alleged that Bajwa and his son had prevented him from campaigning and threatened him. However, he was released on bail by a Pathankot court today.

“The Mann government is practicing the politics of suppression and intimidation,” said Rajkumar Verka while targeting the Bhagwant Mann government. He added that suppressing and oppressing people has become a habit for this government. However, he asserted that the Congress party would not be intimidated by such threats.

Verka said Congress has a history of struggle and will firmly resist every oppression.

    Warning to Administration and Police

Verka issued a stern warning to the local administration and police officials, saying that this government will only be in power for three to four months. He claimed that after that, a Congress government would come to power in Punjab.

He further stated that the administration should immediately stop succumbing to political pressure and filing illegal FIRs against Congress workers and leaders. He also demanded that all cases filed out of political vendetta be quashed immediately and welcomed the court’s decision to grant bail.

Congress Workers Should Not Be Harassed: Verka

Verka said that he had come to Pathankot to give political strength to his sister Harsimran Kaur Bajwa and her family and to maintain public trust in the Congress Party.

He said the Congress Party would not tolerate any administrative or political harassment of its workers and would fight it vigorously at every level.

Harsimran Kaur Bajwa Accuses Police of High-Handedness

Harsimran Kaur Bajwa, general secretary of the All India Mahila Congress Committee and daughter-in-law of Lakhwinder Bajwa, alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party had resorted to bullying, which would not be tolerated.

Rejecting Sandhu’s allegations, Harsimran Kaur claimed that police arrived at her home in several vehicles under pressure from ruling party leaders and broke down the door.

According to her, police seized the DVR, documents, and other important papers from the house. She further alleged that Lakhwinder Singh and Kamaljit Singh were detained at the Narot Jamal police station instead of being taken to the Sadar police station, calling the entire action “utterly tyrannical.”
