New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Uttarakhand Members of Parliament (MPs) on Wednesday to assess the aftermath of twin cloudbursts that struck the Dharali region of Uttarkashi, causing widespread devastation.
The discussion, held at Parliament House, focused on the ongoing rescue efforts and the urgent needs of the affected communities.
PM Modi Reviews Relief Operations
During the meeting, MPs Anil Baluni (Garhwal), Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah (Tehri Garhwal), Trivendra Singh Rawat, and Ajay Bhatt briefed the Prime Minister on the ground situation in Uttarkashi.
They highlighted the scale of destruction caused by the cloudbursts, which triggered flash floods and landslides, severely disrupting connectivity and livelihoods.
PM Modi expressed deep concern over the crisis and emphasized the need for continuous monitoring of relief and rescue operations. He assured the MPs that both the Central and State governments are fully committed to supporting the affected regions.
Directive to Support Affected Communities
The Prime Minister urged the MPs to maintain close contact with their constituencies, ensuring that all possible assistance reaches those impacted by the heavy rainfall and landslides. “The Central Government stands firmly with the people of Uttarkashi, particularly those in Dharali,” PM Modi reportedly said, as conveyed by MP Anil Baluni in a post on X. He stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to provide immediate relief and ensure the safety of residents in rain- and landslide-affected areas.
