Chandigarh Court Sets June 26 Hearing in Controversial Post Case Involving PM Modi

Chandigarh: A Telangana resident, Hasan Mohiuddin Siddiqui, has been issued a challan in a Chandigarh district court for allegedly posting objectionable and misleading social media posts related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The hearing of the case will begin on June 26.

The Chandigarh Police has filed a challan against Hasan in the court under various sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS). Hasan was arrested on April 25 and has been in jail under judicial custody since then. His bail plea has been rejected by the district court 2 times.

In the case, an FIR was registered against 6 people, including Delhi-based writer Madhu Kishwar. However, Hasan has been arrested, while the role of other accused is being investigated.

The case was registered on the complaint of the former councillor.

On April 19, former BJP councillor and advocate Satinder Singh had filed a complaint alleging that some social media users were circulating a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a misleading caption. On the basis of the complaint, the Sector 26 police station registered a case and started investigation.

The post was made to know the truth of the video.

Hasan Siddiqui had told the court that he had not made any objectionable remarks against the Prime Minister. He claims that he posted the video on the social media platform X and asked the AI tool “Grok” only to ask if the video was real or not. On the basis of this post, he was arrested.
