Political Donation Row Erupts in Punjab: Kejriwal Targets BJP, Opposition Hits Back

Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal has made a big allegation against the BJP in Punjab regarding political donations. Kejriwal said that the ED is scaring party donors and that traders are being extorted in the name of donations.

Meanwhile, the BJP has hit back at Kejriwal’s statements. BJP says that traders made it clear by not giving donations to the current government that they are not happy with the AAP government, and now their exit is certain.

Actually, Arvind Kejriwal posted on X a day ago saying that the ED got ₹60 crore in donations in Punjab while the Aam Aadmi Party received ₹70 lakh. On this, Kejriwal alleged that the ED made a sensational claim of illegal extortion of crores of rupees from Punjab traders.

A 2-MLA party got 60 crore in donations: Arvind Kejriwal wrote that in Punjab, the “ED party” has only two MLAs, yet last year they received a whopping 60 crore rupees in donations from Punjab’s traders and industrialists.

Even with the government, ‘AAP’ got only 70 lakh: Kejriwal says that AAP has a full majority government in Punjab, yet they received only 70 lakh rupees in donations.

This is not a donation, but extortion: Kejriwal says it’s worth thinking about why the people of Punjab gave so much to the “ED party.” Clearly, this wasn’t a donation given voluntarily but was straightforward extortion.

Threat of ‘ED raid’ to businessmen: Kejriwal alleges that the ‘ED party’ has once again started extortion business in Punjab. Businessmen here are being openly threatened that they must give donations, otherwise ED raids will be conducted at their locations.

Appeal to not be afraid of threats: Kejriwal said that I appeal to all businessmen and industrialists in Punjab to not be afraid of these threats at all. These people are threatening in the name of the ED to collect money.

Those giving threats will be immediately arrested: If anyone tries to scare you or threatens you for donations, immediately inform us (the government). The Punjab government is fully with you and such people giving threats will be arrested at once.

This is Punjab, threats won’t work here: Kejriwal said that the ‘ED party’ should understand this clearly and know that this is Punjab. The people of Punjab will never be afraid of such threats.
