Pratap Bajwa Meets Rahul Gandhi in Delhi; Decision on Raja Warring’s Chieftaincy by August 25

Amid the ongoing factionalism within the Punjab Congress, Leader of the Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa met Rahul Gandhi outside Parliament. KC Venugopal was also present during the meeting. He was seen talking to Rahul Gandhi.

Earlier on Tuesday night, a meeting of the Channi camp was held at Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa’s residence. Pratap Singh Bajwa, Rana Gurjeet, Dharamvir Gandhi, MPs Sher Singh Ghubaya and Pargat Singh also attended the meeting. All these leaders attended a dinner at Randhawa’s house.

Meanwhile, the situation that arose after Bhupesh Baghel’s visit confused the high command. The slogans raised in support of Channi and his faction at rallies forced the high command to reconsider its decision to retain Raja Warring as the party’s chief. Rahul Gandhi has deployed his team on the ground in Punjab.

Five teams in 23 districts are gathering feedback from the public on the issue of retaining Vading as the head. The teams will compile their reports in a day or two and submit them to Rahul Gandhi’s office. The high command will make a major decision on this matter before August 25th. The high command has received feedback that leaders from the Channi faction have been sidelined in every Booth Congress Strong program.

When KC Venugopal summoned Charanjit Singh Channi and reprimanded him, Raja Warring felt that the hurdle in his path was cleared. After that, Raja Warring began announcing tickets from the stage. Moreover, he also announced a plan to provide free sand to the public if he formed the government in 2027.

When Channi did not succeed, Bajwa took charge.

After Channi’s efforts to put Raja Warring on the back foot failed with the high command, Leader of the Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa has now taken over. The Channi faction and anti-Raja Warring MLAs have sent a letter to Rahul Gandhi through Pratap Singh Bajwa, requesting a meeting with him.
