President Murmu extends greetings on the occasion of Harvest Festivals

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu has extended greetings for people of the nation on auspicous occasion of Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Magh Bihu, and Pongal.

In a post on X, President Murmu said, “Heartiest greetings to all Indians on the occasion of Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Magh Bihu and Uttarayan! These harvest festivals are the lively manifestations of our heritage to respect Mother Nature. May these festivals continue to spread love and harmony among the people of our country. My best wishes to all fellow citizens for a bright and prosperous future.”

Lohri, Sakranti, Magh Bihu, Pongal and Uttarayan are harvest festivals that mark the harvest of winter crops. Lohri is mainly celebrated in North India whereas Bihu is celebrated in Assam and Pongal is celebrated in Tamil Nadu.
