Pulwama attack mastermind Hamza Burhan killed in PoK

Hamza Burhan, the mastermind behind the Pulwama terror attack, was shot dead in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). It is reported that unidentified assailants in PoK targeted Hamza Burhan and fired multiple shots at him. He died on the spot following the attack.

According to reports, Hamza Burhan had been active in Pakistan and PoK for a long time. He was believed to be among those who conspired to carry out the 2019 Pulwama terror attack. In that attack, 40 soldiers were martyred.

In 2022, the Government of India had designated Hamza Burhan as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

Traveled from India to Pakistan, Then Joined a Terrorist Organization

According to the government, Arjumand Gulzar Dar, alias Hamza Burhan, alias Doctor, hailed from the Ratnipora area of ​​Pulwama. The 23-year-old Hamza was affiliated with the terrorist organization Al-Badr. The government has officially designated Al-Badr as a terrorist organization.

According to government records, he traveled to Pakistan through legal channels. Upon reaching there, he joined Al-Badr and subsequently rose to become an active terrorist and commander within the organization. He is currently operating from Pakistan.

He is accused of inciting youths to join Al-Badr and of providing funding for the organization’s terrorist activities.

According to investigative agencies, he has been involved in activities such as cases involving the recovery of explosives in Pulwama, the grenade attack on CRPF personnel on November 18, 2020, and the recruitment of youths into the terrorist organization.
