Pathankot: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday transferred monthly financial assistance to 35.5 lakh women under the Maavan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, taking the total number of beneficiaries under the scheme to 68.5 lakh.

Addressing a financial assistance distribution programme in Pathankot, the Chief Minister said eligible women across the state are receiving Rs 3,000 and Rs 4,500 as combined payments for three months under the scheme. Women already receiving widow, disability and old-age pensions are also being provided an additional Rs 1,000 or Rs 1,500 for the first time.

5 Lakh More Women Register for the Scheme

CM Mann said another 5 lakh women have registered under the scheme in the last seven days, taking the total number of registrations to 73.5 lakh. He added that the registration process is continuing across Punjab for eligible beneficiaries.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said he had fulfilled the promises made to the people of the state, including the commitment to provide financial assistance to women.

Funds Credited Directly to Beneficiaries’ Accounts

The Chief Minister said the financial assistance was being transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries, who had already started receiving mobile notifications confirming the credit of funds.

Recalling an interaction before the event, CM Mann said a woman tied a Rakhi on his wrist and told him that her “brother” would give her Shagun that day. He added that the financial assistance was the rightful money of the beneficiaries and that they were free to use it as they wished.

CM Mann also said he had instructed officials to ensure the timely transfer of funds and reiterated that his government was committed to fulfilling the promises made to the people of Punjab.
