Punjab Government Offering 40% Subsidy to Farmers for Flower Seed Production: Mohinder Bhagat

The Punjab government is emphasizing increasing farmers’ income and making horticulture a profitable venture alongside traditional farming. In this direction, the government is providing financial assistance to farmers to promote floriculture and the production of flower seeds.

Punjab’s Horticulture Minister, Mohinder Bhagat, stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state government is implementing several schemes for farmers. The objective of these schemes is to encourage farmers to adopt horticulture alongside traditional farming and to create new sources of income for them.

Up to 40% Assistance on Flower Seed Production

The Minister explained that under the Horticulture Department’s schemes, the government is providing a subsidy for three years to farmers engaged in flower seed production. Farmers will receive a subsidy of up to 40 percent on the cost of producing flower seeds. Financial assistance of up to a maximum of ₹14,000 per acre can be provided under this scheme. This will help alleviate the financial burden of production costs for the farmers.

Government’s Goal to Promote Floriculture

Mohinder Bhagat stated that the government’s primary objective behind this scheme is to increase the production of high-quality flower seeds. This will boost floriculture in the state and open up additional avenues of income for farmers. The government encourages farmers to adopt new and profitable agricultural options; floriculture and seed production can serve as one such source of additional income.

Appeal to Farmers to Avail Benefits of Schemes

The Horticulture Minister urged farmers to gather information about the various schemes run by the Horticulture Department and to avail themselves of the benefits if eligible. Farmers can contact their nearest Horticulture Department office for information regarding the scheme, the application process, or any other assistance. The government aims to strengthen the horticulture sector and help increase farmers’ income by providing them with the necessary support.
