Punjab Govt Reshuffles Two IAS Officers; Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Basant Garg Get New Portfolios

Chandigarh: The Punjab Government has ordered the transfer/posting of two senior IAS officers on administrative grounds with immediate effect. Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, IAS (2001 batch) has been assigned the charge of Principal Secretary, Social Security, Women & Child Development, along with Principal Secretary, Power and Principal Secretary, New & Renewable Energy Sources. He will also serve as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of PSPCL and PSTCL, in place of Basant Garg, IAS.

Basant Garg Shifted to Industries & Commerce Department

Basant Garg, IAS (2005 batch) has been posted as Administrative Secretary, Industries & Commerce. He will additionally handle Investment Promotion and Promotion of Information Technology Industry, relieving Gurkirat Kirpal Singh of these additional charges.

Officers Directed to Join New Posts Immediately

The Punjab Government has directed both officers to join their new places of posting immediately. The order was issued from Chandigarh on September 14, 2026, by KAP Sinha, Chief Secretary, Government of Punjab.
