Ferozepur: In a major breakthrough against cross-border narcotics smuggling, Counter Intelligence Ferozepur, in a joint operation with the Border Security Force (BSF), recovered 44.5 kg of heroin and 3 kg of ice drug from fields in Ferozepur.

The operation was conducted on the basis of specific intelligence inputs generated by Counter Intelligence Ferozepur. A joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was carried out in the fields of Gajniwala village, leading to the recovery of the smuggled narcotics consignment.

Case Registered Under NDPS Act

Following the recovery, a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the State Special Operations Cell police station in Fazilka.

Authorities have launched further investigation to trace the network involved in the cross-border smuggling operation.

Probe Underway to Trace Smuggling Network

The investigation will focus on establishing the forward and backward linkages of the narcotics network and identifying all individuals associated with the cross-border handlers.

Punjab Police said it remains committed to maintaining strict vigil along the international border and enforcing a zero-tolerance policy against cross-border smuggling and narco-crime.
