Punjab Police Bust Cross-Border Arms Trafficking Module in Ferozepur, One Arrested

Chandigarh: In a major breakthrough, Counter Intelligence Ferozepur has busted a cross-border illegal arms trafficking module and arrested one accused while recovering five .30 bore Glock pistols along with four live cartridges.

According to Punjab Police, preliminary investigation has revealed that the recovered weapons were allegedly smuggled into India through cross-border channels and were intended for further distribution through the network.

Weapons Allegedly Smuggled Through Cross-Border Network

Police officials said the accused was part of an illegal arms trafficking module operating with links across the border. The seized cache included five sophisticated .30 bore Glock pistols and four live cartridges.

Investigators suspect that the weapons were meant to be supplied further within criminal networks operating in the region.

    FIR Registered, Probe Underway

Punjab Police said an FIR has been registered in the case and further investigation is underway to uncover both forward and backward linkages of the module.

Officials are also trying to identify all individuals associated with the arms trafficking network and trace the origin and intended recipients of the seized weapons.

    Punjab Police Reiterates Zero-Tolerance Policy

In a statement, DGP Punjab Police said the force remains committed to a zero-tolerance policy against illegal arms trafficking and cross-border smuggling.

Police officials added that efforts are continuously being intensified to crack down on organised crime networks and prevent the smuggling of illegal weapons into the state.
