Punjab Police Tightens Vigilance Post-Operation Sindoor, Major Drug Haul Recovered

Chandigarh: DGP Gaurav Yadav said that a special meeting was held on law and order in Punjab, in which the ADGP of STF, DIG of Border Range and other officers participated and assessed the situation. He said that maximum force has been deployed due to information of major incidents after Operation Sindoor.

The DGP has also started an anti-organised crime helpline and appealed to the public to inform the police if they have any information. So far, 88 people have been arrested in major incidents, while in the last few days, 18 people have been arrested in 20 murder cases. Along with this, 1342 kg of heroin has been recovered.

Gaurav Yadav said that, along with heroin, small arms are also coming, and many small arms have been recovered. He said that drugs and arms are being sent from foreign countries. Vigilance has been increased after the floods, and places where fencing has been damaged are being checked. More vigilance has also been maintained after the installation of the anti-drone system.

The DGP said that Punjab Police will never tolerate cases of extortion and firing under its zero-tolerance policy. He appealed to the youth not to get involved in the affairs of those involved in drug and arms trade.

Regarding the allegations made against the police in the video released by Pathan Majra, the DGP said that he is not making any specific comments in this matter, but the Punjab Police never goes beyond the law.
