Punjab Pollution Control Board officials bust illegal plastic carry bag manufacturing unit

Derabassi: Officials of the Punjab Pollution Control Board have busted an illegal unit manufacturing plastic carry bags in the Derabassi sub-division. Giving information in this regard, Gursharan Das, Environmental Engineer of SAS Nagar of Punjab Pollution Control Board, said that during an unannounced inspection by the PPCB team, an illegal factory was found in the Bhagwanpura area of Derabassi. It was found that it was manufacturing banned plastic carry bags.

He said that according to the PPCB rules framed in 2018 regarding the ban on the use of plastic carry bags, there is a complete ban on the use and manufacture of carry bags in the state except for packaging materials without handles.

Arshdeep Singh SDO, PPCB said that during the checking, 200 kg of banned plastic carry bag was found, which was confiscated. Environmental Engineer Gursharan Das said that PPCB has started further action against the concerned unit.
