Chandigarh: The Punjab government has suspended PCS officer Gurvinder Singh, serving as the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) in Ropar, following allegations of negligence during the martyrdom celebrations of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

According to government orders, the required buses were not provided on time to transport people to the light and sound show at the memorial function, which led to disruption of the programme. Holding the officer responsible for the delay responsible, the state government initiated disciplinary action and suspended him.
During the period of suspension, Gurvinder Singh will get subsistence allowance as per service rules. The order further states that his headquarters will remain in Chandigarh, and he will not be allowed to leave the city without prior approval from the competent authority.
The suspension order was formally issued by the Punjab government.
