Punjab Weather Update: Mercury, Pollution soar after weakening of Cyclone Montha

Following the weakening of Cyclone Montha, temperatures in Punjab have increased. Along with the temperature, pollution has also increased. According to data from the Meteorological Center, the state’s maximum temperature has increased by 1.5 degrees Celsius and the minimum by 0.6 degrees Celsius. Consequently, night temperatures remain 2.9 degrees Celsius above normal.

Following the weakening of Montha, winds in Punjab have slowed and changed direction, leading to smog. Pollution levels are rising in all districts except Amritsar. The situation in Jalandhar has worsened, with the AQI exceeding 200, prompting an orange alert.

The fog to drop by 3 degrees Celsius after two days

According to a bulletin issued by the Meteorological Center, light to moderate fog is likely to persist in Punjab for the next two days. There will be no significant change in the minimum temperature for the next three days. After that, temperatures will drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius. After which there are chances of morning and evening becoming a little cold.
