Punjab Launches ‘White City’ Project in Anandpur Sahib to Mark 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur

Anandpur Sahib, Punjab: In a landmark initiative to elevate the spiritual and historical essence of Punjab’s sacred town, the “White City” project was launched on Wednesday to commemorate the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains inaugurated the campaign after performing ‘ardas’ at Qila Anandgarh Sahib, symbolically beginning the transformation by painting the city white from the local bus stand.

    Community-Driven Beautification Effort

Bains, who represents Anandpur Sahib, said the project aims to make the city a “beacon of beauty, peace, and devotion.” Over 20,000 litres of white paint have already been donated by community members for the initial phase, reflecting strong public participation and collective spirit.

Sewa and Sustainability at the Core

Calling upon youth and local panchayats to join the ‘sewa,’ Bains announced that the painting drive would continue for five to seven days to cover every street and corner.

The Rupnagar district administration will fully support the campaign to ensure lasting beautification, turning Anandpur Sahib into a radiant tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur’s legacy.
