Chandigarh : Amidst the ongoing campaign to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav IPS, Commissionerate Amritsar Police have busted an International Narco smuggling cartel being handled by USA based Jasmeet alias Lucky with recovery of 5kg Heroin. Another Weapon supply racket has been busted with recovery of 4 weapons and arrest of 2 accused said Gurpreet Bhullar , Commissioner of Police Amritsar.
In first case CP Gurpreet Singh Bhuller disclosed the identity of accused as Gurpreet Kumar alias Deep aged 27 years R/O New Shanti Nagar Bhajwara District Hoshiarpur from whom 05 kg heroin has been recovered. And one vehicle TATA ACE No.PB07-AL-9743 used for smuggling heroin has also been confiscated.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that heroin was being smuggled from across the border and was supplying it across the state. From the backward link of Jasmeet Singh alias Lucky resident of village Raipur district Hoshiarpur, who lives abroad, Gurpreet Kumar alias Deep has now been arrested.
Earlier, 05 accused were arrested in FIR No. 260 dated 26-11-2023 under NDPS Act, police station Chheharta and 6 kg 210 grams of heroin and a car numbered PB 91-1-5146, 3 lakh were recovered from them. 80 thousand rupees of drug money, 12 sims of Airtel have been recovered.
Commissionerate police has busted the present module by finding out his backward links and gained success in recovering commercial quantity of heroin.
“During questioning, the arrested accused persons have disclosed that they were receiving the Heroin consignment from international border as per instructions of Jasmeet alias Lucky residing in USA.
In another case, 02 persons have been arrested along with 04 pistols brought from Madhya Pradesh. The arrested persons have been identified as Harminderpal Singh aged 23 years and Jatinderpal Singh alias Baba aged 20 years both residents of Guru Nanak Colony, Tarn Taran Road Amritsar, and in their possession 04 pistols country made. 32 bore, 4 magazines and 16 live cartridges. 32 bore has been recovered. Along with this, an Activa bearing number PBO2-ES-0344, to which they were going to supply pistols, has also been seized. A police party arrested them in the area of Pul Taranwala along the canal to Sultanwind Road when they were waiting for the person assigned to supply the pistols.
Preliminary investigation revealed that they had brought these pistols from a person from Madhya Pradesh (MP) for supply in Amritsar.
