Jalandhar: Bibi Jagir Kaur, leader of the rebel faction of the Akali Dal, criticized the Punjab Government for its failure to adress law and order issues, the mistreatment of farmers and recent incidents involving police actions. She stated that the law and order situation in Punjab has “completely failed”, with serious crimes happening in broad daylight, while the government remains indifferent.
She condemned the government’s handling of the farmer’s protest on 19 March, calling the police action against farmers “completely wrong”. She expressed disappointment, stating, ” Punjab is an agriculture based state. It has fed not just the state but the entire country. yet, the government has betrayed the farmers who have sacrificed so much for the nation.”
She also highlighted contradictions in the government’s stance, pointing out the disconnect between official statements and actions against farmers. “The government claimed the meeting with farmers was held ina ‘good atmosphere’, yet brutal action was taken afterward”, Jagir Kaur noted.
She further expressed shame over the police’s actions, especially given the involvement of officer’s parents in the farmers protests. questioning how the same police could resort to such violence.
Bibi Jagir Kaur also took aim at the Punjab Government over the assault on a colonel’s son in Patiala, emphasizing that such actions undermine the safety of citizens.
Additionally she criticized the SGPC chief, Harjinder Singh Dhami, for allegedly prioritizing Sukhbir Singh Badal over the Jathedars. She referred to misbehavious with Sikh youth in Himachal, calling it a condemnable act.
