CBI to Probe Assault on Army Colonel Pushpinder Baath After High Court Order

Earlier, the investigation of this case was handed over to the Chandigarh Police.

There has been a new twist in the case of the assault on Indian Army Colonel Pushpinder Baath and his son in Patiala in March. The CBI will now investigate this case. This decision was taken today on 16 July in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Earlier, the investigation of this case was handed over to the Chandigarh Police.

It has been three months since the FIR was registered in this case, while it has also been three months since the investigation was transferred to the SIT, but no accused has been arrested in this case yet.

When Inspector Ronnie’s petition was filed in the High Court, at that time the court had asked the investigating officer whether the accused would be arrested if his petition is rejected. To this the investigating officer had answered in the affirmative. But no action has been taken on it yet.

Colonel Baath is currently posted as Deputy Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat. He has described the incident that happened with him as an example of extreme cruelty, arrogance and inhuman behavior. From this incident it seems that the protectors of law have themselves become lawbreakers.

There is also an allegation that Chandigarh Police is unable to take action due to pressure from Punjab Police officers.
