Chandigarh: Three duped of Rs 73 lakh on pretext of sending abroad

Sector-17 and Industrial Area police station have registered a case against the said immigration companies under sections of fraud and conspiracy.

Chandigarh: In Chandigarh city, people are getting cheated on the pretext of sending them abroad. One such case has been registered in the Sector 17 police station. As per the complaint, three immigration companies cheated three people including a woman for about 73 lakhs in the name of getting visas for Canada and Australia.

Sector-17 and Industrial Area police station have registered a case against the said immigration companies under sections of fraud and conspiracy.

Karnal resident Ranbir Singh told the police in his complaint that he contacted World Visa Advisor Immigration Company located in Sector-17 after seeing its advertisement to go to Australia.

In the office, he met Khushpal Singh, Vinay, Anmol and others, who demanded 11 lakh rupees for the visa. He gave 10 lakh 99 thousand 500 rupees. After this, the company did not get a visa for him. Sector-17 police station has registered a case against Khushpal Singh, Vinay, Anmol and others.

Zirakpur resident Brahm Dutt told the police in his complaint that Sure Aboard Immigration Company in Sector-17 took Rs 48 lakh 20 thousand in the name of different fees and charges to get Australia’s work visa, but did not get the visa for him. When the money was asked back, the company’s director stopped picking up the phone. Industrial Area Police Station has registered a case against director Manpreet Singh and others.

Third accused Pankaj Sharma, a resident of Ludhiana, was contacted to get Canada visa. Pankaj demanded Rs 15 lakh. The complainant gave Rs 15 lakh and documents from 26 February 2020 to 31 October 2023. After this, the accused did not get the visa. When the money was asked back, the accused started procrastinating.
