Chandigarh: A yellow alert has been issued for cold wave in Punjab today as well. According to the Meteorological Department, there will not be much change in the temperature of the state for the next 48 hours. After that, the temperature may increase by up to 3 degrees.
Two western disturbances are getting active within the next one week. After which there are chances of light rain in the state. According to the Meteorological Center, a cold wave warning has been issued in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Moga and Bathinda of Punjab.
The effect of cold wave will be more in the morning. The sky is expected to remain clear throughout the day and the maximum temperature can reach around 20 degrees.
Chances of rain from January 30
Two western disturbances are getting active in Punjab in the coming week. Both will affect the hilly areas of Himachal. The first western disturbance is getting active from 29th January. Apart from the mountains, its mild effect can be seen in the plains as well. After the activation of this western disturbance, there are chances of rain and drizzle in the plains of Punjab on 30th and 31st January.
Whereas, the second western disturbance is becoming active from February 1. Its effect will also be seen the most in the hilly areas.

Amritsar- The sky will be clear. The temperature can remain between 4 to 21 degrees.
Jalandhar- The sky will be clear. The temperature can remain between 4 to 23 degrees.
Ludhiana- The temperature can remain between 7 to 23 degrees.
Patiala- The temperature can remain between 6 to 19 degrees.
Mohali- The temperature can remain between 7 to 20 degrees.
