Encounter between Police and Drug smugglers in Patiala; narcotic pills recovered

SSP Patiala Dr. Nanak Singh said that this encounter took place between the anti-narcotics team of the police and the notorious drug smuggler criminal Devi.

An encounter took place between drug smugglers in Patiala on Friday night. In which the drug smuggler was injured and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. This incident happened when the smuggler reached the deserted quarter of the Electricity Board of Patiala with money for recovery where he had hidden the revolver.

SSP Patiala Dr. Nanak Singh said that this encounter took place between the anti-narcotics team of the police and the notorious drug smuggler criminal Devi. The police had recently arrested Devi, who was wanted in 25 cases of NDPS Act and theft. During the arrest, the police also recovered 1100 banned narcotic pills from the accused. His wife was also an accomplice in this drug business.

During interrogation, Devi revealed that he had hidden weapons in the uninhabited quarter of PSPCL (Punjab State Power Corporation Limited). When the police team reached there to recover the weapons, the accused took advantage of the opportunity and fired at ASI Tara Chand.

Dr. Nanak Singh said that Devi had hidden the revolver in the quarter. There were five bullets in the pistol and one bullet was inside the pistol. She fired this bullet at ASI Tara Singh. In retaliation, ASI fired two bullets. One of the bullets missed, while the other bullet hit the leg of accused Devi.
