Jalandhar: Jalandhar West Result updates
All 13 rounds of voting are done and AAP candidate Mohinder Bhagat has emerged victorious. Bhagat secured 55,246 votes and win by huge margin of 37,325 votes. The fight for second and third place was going on between BJP and Congress with BJP candidate Sheetal Angural winning the second spot. Sheetal Angural secured 17921 votes and bagged 2nd place. Congress candidate Surinder Kaur remained at third place with 16,757 votes.

Counting of votes has started from around 8 am today i.e. Saturday for the by-election on Jalandhar West assembly seat in Punjab. The first trend will come at 9 am and by 2 pm the whole situation will be clear as to who won the said seat. The low voting percentage has raised the concern of all the parties.
Only 54.90% votes were cast in the voting held on July 10. This vote percentage has been the lowest in the last nearly three decades. There is a triangular contest on this seat. In which former MLA Sheetal Angural from BJP, former BJP minister’s son Mohinder Bhagat from AAP and former senior deputy mayor Surinder Kaur from Congress are contesting.
The specialty of this seat is that every time a new party has been winning the election from here. BJP in 2012, Congress in 2017 and AAP in 2022 won the seat from here.
The administration has made tight security arrangements
According to the information received, this time the counting of votes will be done at Khalsa College (women) in Jalandhar. During this time, there will be strict vigil by the Election Officer, Central Security Force and Punjab Police.
