High alert in Ludhiana after terror threat; Security tightened across city

Ludhiana, August 28: After receiving a threat of a terrorist attack in Ludhiana, Punjab, the district police have made strict security arrangements. High alert has been in place in the city for the last 3-4 days, and security agencies have also become alert. Although senior police officials are calling this alertness a routine check, but looking at the security arrangements across the city, it is clear that the police do not want to take any kind of negligence.

According to sources, terrorist organisations have threatened to target government buildings in the city through email or phone. After this information, the police have tightened security in the city for the last two to three days. However, no senior officer has confirmed the threat received through email or phone.

Checking started by setting up special checkpoints

Checking has been started by setting up special checkpoints in various parts of Ludhiana city. Police have increased patrolling, and an additional police force has been deployed at many government offices and sensitive places. These include Jagraon Bridge, Post Office, BSNL Building, DIG Kothi, Circuit House and Ferozepur Road Elevated Bridge.

Keeping a close eye on every activity

The threat of a terrorist attack in a big industrial city like Ludhiana has alerted the security agencies. Every activity is being closely monitored. This is not the first time that there has been a threat of bombing government buildings in the city, such threats have been received many times before this as well.

Police stations located on the highway were alerted

Police stations located on the highway have been instructed to be extra vigilant. Police have placed Salem Tabri, Ladowal, Division No. 6, Sahnewal, Dehlon, Division No. 5, Division No. 3, Jamalpur, Kumkalan, Moti Nagar, Meharban and many outposts of the city under highway police stations, where security arrangements have been increased.

The increased security arrangements in the city indicate that the police is fully prepared to deal with any situation. Efforts were made to contact Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma and DCP Rupinder Singh regarding this matter, but they could not be contacted.
