NHAI gives ultimatum to Punjab govt; ‘Handover land otherwise projects will be stopped’

The central government has given Punjab an ultimatum of two months.

Chandigarh: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann did not attend the NHAI meeting held yesterday. In fact in place of CM, Chief Minister’s Special Secretary VK Singh, Punjab PWD Minister Harbhajan ETO and other officials participated.

The central government has given Punjab an ultimatum of two months. Actually it has been said in the ultimatum (NHAI meeting) that hand over the land for the project otherwise the project from NHAI will be stopped.

The Punjab government assured to hold a meeting within one to two weeks. After two months, Nitin Gadkari will again take the review meeting (NHAI Meeting). The Chief Minister of Rajasthan participated in the meeting held in Rajasthan in the morning. The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh will also attend the meeting on July 16.

It is to be noted that yesterday Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma attended the National Highway Projects Review Meeting (NHAI Meeting) of Rajasthan in New Delhi on Monday. In this meeting chaired by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, discussions were held on implementing these projects in a standard and time-bound manner using new technology.

Along with this, the meeting also discussed in detail about the new projects proposed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for the state. Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Harsh Malhotra and Ajay Tamta were present on this occasion.
