A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain in Punjab for the next two days. In the last 24 hours, the average maximum temperature of the state has dropped by 0.4 degrees Celsius, which is 2.1 degrees below normal.
The highest temperature was recorded at 39.2 degrees Celsius in Anandpur Sahib, while the highest rainfall was 22.0 mm in Fatehgarh Sahib. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no new alert till July 14, but intermittent rain will continue.

Heavy rain is likely in four districts in the state. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning are likely at isolated places in Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr and Rupnagar districts. Similarly, thunderstorm and lightning are likely at isolated places in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Mohali, Patiala and Sangrur districts.
Light to moderate rain is likely at many places in Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Mohali districts. Light to moderate rain is likely at some places in Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Sangrur districts. Light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places in all the remaining districts of the state.
Drop in temperature of major cities
According to the data of the Meteorological Department, Amritsar recorded a temperature of 32.4 degrees, Ludhiana 34.0 degrees, Pathankot 33.5 degrees, Patiala 33.5 degrees, Bathinda 37.0 degrees, Fatehgarh Sahib 32.6 degrees and Hoshiarpur 32.8 degrees. This change has come due to rain.
