Punjab declares 14 April as Public holiday for Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti

The Punjab government has declared a holiday in the state on the occasion of Dr. BR Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 (Monday).

Chandigarh: The Punjab government has declared a holiday in the state on the occasion of Dr. BR Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 (Monday). A written order has been issued by the state government in this regard. According to the information received, this notification has been issued under Section 25 Act 1881. Government offices, boards, corporations, institutions and government offices will remain closed.

Babasaheb was born on 14 April 1891

Babasaheb Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891, he was the 14th child of his parents. His father was Subedar Ramji Maloji Sakpal, who was in the British Army.

BR Ambedkar’s father was a follower of Sant Kabir. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar’s father retired when he was about two years old.
