Monsoon, which arrived in Punjab five days before time, has spread across the state. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert regarding rain in the state on Thursday. There are also chances of lightning along with rain. According to the Meteorological Department, June has been a normal month in the state, which is a positive sign. At the same time, the temperature of the state has dropped by 2.9 degrees in the last 24 hours, which is 6.8 degrees below normal.
The highest temperature in Punjab was recorded in Bathinda, which is 36.1 degrees below normal. At the same time, till Wednesday evening, 30 mm of rain has been recorded in Amritsar, 16 mm in Patiala, 1 mm in Fatehgarh Sahib, 0.5 mm in Hoshiarpur, 0.5 mm in Ropar. While rain has been traced in Ludhiana too.
Apart from this, the maximum temperature in Amritsar, Punjab was recorded at 30.8 degrees, Ludhiana at 30.8 degrees, Patiala at 27.8 degrees, Pathankot at 32 degrees, Bathinda at 34.2 degrees, and Faridkot at 33.5 degrees.
Orange alert in 4 districts of Punjab
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert regarding rain in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Tarn Taran of the state amid the movement of monsoon. At the same time, a yellow alert has been issued in Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Rupnagar, Mohali, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Moga, Faridkot, Muktsar, and Fazilka.
According to the Meteorological Department, normal rainfall has been recorded in the month of June. Normally 48.6 mm of rain is recorded in Punjab from 1 to 25 June. But till now, 37.4 mm of rain has occurred in the entire state, which is only 3 percent less than normal. That is, normal rainfall has been recorded in Punjab.
According to the Meteorological Department, this year the situation in the state may remain normal. Last year, the monsoon arrived in the state on July 2, late. In 2024, Punjab received 314.6 mm of rain as against the normal average of 439.8 mm. But this time the monsoon is expected to rain 110 percent, that is, there is a possibility of rain around 500 mm.
