Review meeting held regarding Delhi-Katra Expressway; Work should be speeded up, says Minister ETO

He instructed the officials and said that no laxity will be tolerated in the works of the National Highway

Amritsar: The road network plays an important role in boosting the state’s economic development. These words were expressed by Harbhajan Singh ETO Public Works Department Minister Punjab today after holding a review meeting with the administrative officials of National Project Highway and Amritsar regarding the Delhi-Katra Expressway.

Minister ETO said that Rs 1829 crore were released to acquire the land for Delhi-Katra Expressway. Out of which 1647 crore rupees have been distributed to the concerned till now.

He instructed the officials and said that no laxity will be tolerated in the works of the National Highway and if there is any problem related to land acquisition at any place, it should be solved in a time bound manner. It was brought to the notice that some people are not giving possession of the land even after taking money, on which the Minister of Public Works instructed the concerned officials to look into this case themselves and get it settled as soon as possible.

Minister ETO said that all possible efforts are being made by the government of Chief Minister Punjab Bhagwant Mann to encourage the development of the state. He said that the development of a state can be seen only by looking at the road network there.

Minister ETO has instructed the group of SDMs that there should be no delay in giving compensation to the ownership of any land and the concerned owners should get the same compensation as fixed by the government. He said that the pending cases should be expedited so that the project work can be carried out quickly by acquiring the land.

In this meeting Deputy Commissioner Ghansham Thori, Additional Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh, SDM Amritsar-1 and 2 S Mankanwal Singh Chahal and Nikas Kumar, SDM Baba Bakala S Amandeep Singh and other officials were present.
