An auto and a truck collided head-on on the service lane of the National Highway from Railway Road, Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib on Thursday. An 8-year-old child died in the accident while many other people were injured. After getting information about the case, the police reached the spot and started an investigation on the basis of the complaint. At the same time, statements of the injured are being recorded.
Auto overturned due to collision
According to the information, the workers who came from outside states had reached Sirhind Junction via railway. They boarded an auto to go to Mandi Gobindgarh. There were about 10 people in the auto, including women and children. When the auto turned from Railway Road to the service lane, a speeding truck coming from the wrong direction collided with it. The auto overturned due to the collision. After the accident, both vehicle drivers fled from the spot.
People took the injured to the hospital
Passers-by and local people pulled out the injured. They were taken to the Civil Hospital Fatehgarh Sahib by ambulance. Doctors declared the 8-year-old child dead in the hospital. Treatment of the other injured is going on. According to SP Sukhnaz Singh, the accident is being investigated. Sirhind police is recording the statements of the injured. CCTV cameras installed nearby are also being investigated. A case will be filed against the absconding drivers and they will be arrested soon.
