Ludhiana:
In order to eradicate drug menace from Punjab, the Ludhiana Rural police continue to take action against drug peddlers. On Tuesday, the police attached the properties of 33 drug peddlers in 19 cases. These properties are worth around Rs 15 crores.
This action has been taken under the ‘Yudh Nasheyan Virudh’ campaign.
The accused whose properties have been attached are identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi of Rasulpur Mallha in PS Hathur, Gurmit Singh alias Gurdeep Singh of Patti Ravidas Bhagat VPO Daherka, Gutrej Singh alias Kaka of Hathur, Joga Singh alias Happy of Patti Baja Village Dhudhike, Gurparamjit Singh alias Pamma of Sidhwan Khurd, Surinder Singh of village Roomi, Krishan Singh of village Rasulpur Malha, Gurmail Singh alias Fauji, Baljeet Singh, Saudagar Singh and Jora Singh (all four residence of Bhamipura Kalan).
Apart from them other accused include — Lakhvir Singh alias Lucky of Buraj Hari Singh, Jaspal Singh alias Baba of Nathowal, Prem Singh of Talwara, Jaswinder Singh of Attiana and Kaka Singh of Nathowal.
Besides, there are 17 more accused whose properties have been attached by the police.
According to the police, these accused are facing NDPS Act registered at different police stations of Ludhiana Rural police after the police had recovered contrabands from their possession.
Ludhiana rural DSP (investigation) Guriqbal Singh said that the properties, mostly residential houses, in 19 cases of NDPS Act have been identified and attached. These properties are worth Rs 14,99,20,500.
On Tuesday, the teams of the Ludhiana Rural Police visited these properties and pasted the attachment notices on the main gates.
SSP Dr. Ankur Gupta said that as the Punjab Government has initiated a war against drugs, no drug smuggler will be spared. The police are collecting information about more assets owned by the accused in these 19 cases and those too will be attached in coming days and action will be taken under section 68 (F) of NDPS Act.
