Weather Alert: IMD issues orange alert for Punjab, Check what it means

IMD in its weather prediction said that southwest monsoon has covered entire country and isolated heavy rainfall is likely in different parts of the country.

Chandigarh: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the state for July 3rd. Monsoon has finally knocked in Punjab which brought relief from the scorching heat. Giving weather prediction for July 3, IMD has given an ornage alert for Punjab. Oranger alert means heavy rainfall which is very much likely to affect the public’s day to day activities.

IMD in its weather prediction said that southwest monsoon has covered entire country and isolated heavy rainfall is likely in different parts of the country.

IMD said that Punjab is very likely to get isolated heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy rainfall (115.5-204.4 mm) on 3rd July, 2024. Earlier, Amritsar, Ludhiana and many districts received heavy rainfall leaving roads inundated.

Apart from Punjab, Isolated heavy rainfall is also predicted for Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad 04th – 06th, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan during 02nd-06th; West Rajasthan on 03rd; Madhya Pradesh during 02nd – 04th July and Chhattisgarh on 02nd & 03rd
July.

No change in Maximum temperature

Predicting about the maximum temperature, IMD predicted that No significant change in maximum temperatures is very likely over most parts of the country during the next 5 days.
