Election Officials Issue Notice to Punjab Congress Chief Raja Warring Over Alleged Campaigning After 5 PM; Video Footage Sought

Ludhiana: Political activity has once again intensified in Punjab. A notice has been issued by the Returning Officer (RO) operating from the SDM’s office to Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, President of the Punjab Congress Committee and MP from Ludhiana, regarding allegations of continuing election campaigning in Gidderbaha (Muktsar district) even after the official campaign period had ended.

According to reports, the administration initiated this action in response to alleged violations of the election Model Code of Conduct and the regulations mandating the cessation of campaigning by 5:00 PM. It is alleged that Raja Warring continued to engage in election-related activities within the Gidderbaha area despite the campaign period having officially concluded.

PR Team States: “We Have Not Yet Received the Notice”

However, the Congress party has adopted a different stance regarding this matter. When contacted for a comment, Ayushi Warring’s media PR representative stated that they have not yet received any official notice of any kind. She noted that they had only learned of the matter through media reports. She added that the party would clarify its position only after receiving the actual notice.

Administration Examining Video Footage and Other Records

According to sources, the administration is currently scrutinizing video footage and other relevant records pertaining to the entire incident. If a violation of the rules is confirmed, further action may be initiated in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Election Commission.

Meanwhile, following these developments, a phase of mutual recrimination has begun within the political landscape of Punjab. Opposition parties are targeting the Congress over this issue, while Congress leaders maintain that this is an attempt to politically corner them.
