Forest Fire in Ranikhet Threatens Buildings, Brought Under Control

Almora: A forest fire erupted near the Maruti showroom in the Ganiyadholi area of Ranikhet, creating panic among local residents and business owners as flames spread dangerously close to nearby buildings. The blaze quickly intensified due to the presence of highly flammable pine trees, dry pine needles, and parched grass in the area.

Flames Spread Rapidly, Threatening Nearby Structures

As the fire advanced swiftly through the dry forest cover, it posed a serious threat to the Maruti showroom and surrounding residential and commercial buildings. Thick smoke and rising flames heightened fears of a major disaster if the fire was not controlled in time.

Fire Service Responds Swiftly

After receiving information about the incident, the Fire Service team rushed to the spot without delay and immediately launched firefighting operations. Firefighters began spraying water across the affected area to slow the fire’s spread and protect nearby structures.

‘Beating Method’ Used to Contain Blaze

To combat the rapidly expanding flames more effectively, the fire personnel also adopted the traditional “beating method,” using specialized tools to suppress the fire at ground level in areas inaccessible to water hoses. Their continuous and coordinated efforts helped prevent the blaze from spreading further.

Major Disaster Prevented

Following a strenuous firefighting operation, the blaze was completely brought under control. Thanks to the prompt and efficient response of the Fire Service team, a potentially devastating disaster was averted, and all nearby buildings—including the Maruti showroom were successfully saved.
