Under the Firozpur Division of Northern Railway, an app-based transport service ‘Rapido’ was launched at Jalandhar City Railway Station for the convenience of rail passengers. This facility has been introduced under the Non-Fare Revenue service category for a period of three years.
Keeping passenger convenience in mind, a dedicated Rapido counter has also been set up near the parking area outside the Jalandhar Railway station. The passengers can obtain information and assistance related to the app and travel.
Let us tell you that Rapido is an Indian app-based taxi service through which e-rickshaws, autos, bikes, and cabs can be booked.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Mr. Paramdeep Singh Saini stated that this initiative will greatly benefit passengers in their daily commute. He added that, considering passenger requirements, similar services may be expanded to other railway stations under the Firozpur Division in the future.
The objective of this initiative is not only to provide better facilities to passengers but also to strengthen sources of Non-Fare Revenue income. He further informed that a proposal has been sent to IRCTC to display the Rapido app on the RailOne app, enabling passengers to book taxi services along with train tickets on a single platform.
