Udham Singh Nagar, April 11: An investigation into an interstate arms-smuggling network spanning three states and recently busted in Uttarakhand has revealed that terrorist Rehan Mir visited Udham Singh Nagar three times over the course of a year to procure seven pistols  yet, neither the police nor intelligence agencies caught wind of these activities.

The inquiry established that this network sourced illegal weapons from Badaun in Uttar Pradesh and supplied them to Jammu and Kashmir via Sitarganj. In other words, weapons were being transported from UP to Uttarakhand and subsequently onward to Jammu and Kashmir, thereby significantly strengthening the suspected terrorist link within the entire case. Interrogations revealed that Rehan Mira a Jammu and Kashmir-based individual alleged to be an ‘overground worker’ for the banned terrorist organization Al-Badr, would travel to Sitarganj specifically to procure weapons through this very network.
