Rising Heat in Punjab-Chandigarh as Temperature Touches 30°C, Weather to Change from March 26

Punjab/Chandigarh: Intense sunlight and dry weather conditions in Punjab and Chandigarh have led to a rise in temperature, which has reached around 30 degrees Celsius.

Over the past 24 hours, the maximum temperature has increased by 1.3 degrees and is now close to normal levels.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain completely dry today, with no alerts issued.

Yellow Alert for Storms and Winds on March 26

A yellow alert has been issued for March 26, warning of lightning, thunderstorms, and strong winds. Wind speeds during this period are expected to range between 30 to 40 km per hour.

The highest temperature of 30°C was recorded in Rupnagar, while Chandigarh recorded 29°C.

Weather to Change from March 26

According to the Meteorological Department, a weather system is developing around Jammu, with a similar influence observed over Pakistan. Additionally, strong winds are blowing at higher altitudes.

Due to these combined factors, weather conditions are expected to change from March 26, followed by another shift around March 29. This may lead to rainfall, strong winds, and thunderstorms in the region.

Temperatures Cross 25°C Across Districts

Across major regions of Punjab, temperatures have crossed 25°C. The highest temperature of 30.1°C was recorded at Bhakra Dam (Rupnagar), followed by 29.7°C in Chandigarh and Patiala, 29.6°C in Ferozepur KVK, 29.3°C in Sri Anandpur Sahib, and 29.0°C in Ludhiana.

Other readings include 28.6°C in Mohali, 28.5°C in Ropar KVK, 27.9°C in Hoshiarpur, 27.8°C in Amritsar, 27.3°C in KVK Pathankot, 27.0°C in Saleran (Hoshiarpur), and 26.5°C at Thien Dam (Pathankot).

Temperature Likely to Rise Further

Meteorological Department Director Surender Pal Singh stated that light to moderate rainfall is expected at isolated places on March 25, 26, and 28, while some areas may receive rain on March 29.

He added that maximum temperatures are likely to increase by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next four days, after which no major change in temperature is expected.
