Sangrur: Congress leader and Punjab in charge Sachin Pilot on Monday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for making the drug problem worse and creating law and order issues in the state, alleging that murder is becoming common and police has become untrustworthy.
Ahead of a planned visit by Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi to Punjab, Pilot said the Congress will take up people’s issues during the ‘Insaaf Rally’ on November 4 in Sangrur. He said the visit by Rahul Gandhi to the state is a positive sign.
Pilot Slams AAP For Drug Problem And Shootings
“In the last few years, AAP has ruined Punjab. Everyone in Punjab has become addicted. There are so many cases of murder and killing. In the past 2 years, 395 innocent lives have been taken away through shooting. The police are helpless as they have become the government’s puppets,” he alleged.
He said the rally will bring together Congress workers, farmers, youth and public from across the state, demanding justice.
“Rahul Gandhi will address a rally called ‘Insaaf Rally’. On November 4 in Sangrur, he will interact with the public of Punjab to demand their rights and justice. This will be a historic rally with participation from party workers from across the country. We will be taking up issues like drugs and violence with the public of Punjab,” he said.
This will be the start of efforts to find a solution to return Punjab back to how it should be.
Visit By Rahul Gandhi Will Help Congress
Pilot said this is an opportunity for Congress to boost its organisational structure.
“It is a positive sign that Rahul Gandhi is visiting. The whole party is working hard to convery to the masses that the Congress will win the upcoming elections and will serve them devotedly.”
Pilot Slams AAP For Exit Of Prominent Leaders
He also slammed the AAP for reports prominent leaders and Rajya Sabha members have exited the party. He said this shows there is increasing displeasure with the AAP and they have not delivered on their promises.
“The AAP has a crack in it. Many Rajya Sabha members have left the party, and prominent leaders are also leaving as the party has not delivered on any issues or promises whatsoever,” he said.
“If your MLA’s and MPs don’t trust you then how can the public trust you? You are saying they were useless but why did you keep them for the last 5 years? Why did you give them important positions in cabinet?”
Pilot said the AAP reaction was arrogant, adding that Congress and the ruling party are really fighting it out in Punjab.
“This is arrogant and prideful. AAP and Congress are really fighting it out.”
