Punjab Government Launches New Initiative for Safety and Empowerment of Adolescent Girls

The Punjab Police is preparing to launch a comprehensive awareness campaign focused on the safety, health and education of adolescent girls aged between 12 and 18 years in the state.

The initiative aims to provide girls with essential information about their rights and health while helping create a safer environment for them. The campaign will focus on connecting adolescent girls with education, raising awareness about safety and providing necessary support for their better future.

    Various Departments to Work Together

A meeting of concerned departments and agencies was held at the conference hall of Ludhiana Police Lines to discuss preparations for the campaign. The meeting was chaired by Special DGP, Community Affairs Division (CAD), Gurpreet Kaur Deo. Discussions focused on coordination between departments, awareness programmes and ways to reach adolescent girls who need support, with the aim of making the campaign effective at the grassroots level.

    Out-of-School Girls to Be Included

The campaign will not be limited to girls who are currently attending school. Plans are also in place to include girls who have dropped out of school or are no longer regularly attending classes for various reasons.

Special efforts will also be made to reach girls from economically weaker and migrant families. The objective is to ensure that no adolescent girl is deprived of essential information and support because of her social or economic circumstances.
